BORN: COMIC STRIP LIVE NYC

I actually was born a block away from the Comic Strip and I used to walk down Second Avenue as a child and see all the people outside of this club. I thought, “What are they doing? What are they looking for?” And I said, “Someday I’d like to be one of those people waiting outside the club.” Actually, I made it inside the club as well! This was a transformative experience for me.

I have to express myself in some way and I wanted to perform comedy here years ago, but I ran into some snafus in life, one might call them, and I actually just returned after a 20-something-year absence.

Comedy, in a good sense, has made me born again. Not with any religious overtones, but comic overtones. Born Again, Andrew Kelly.
